Criminal

Unintentional Possession of a Firearm Still Illegal

2025-06-18

The defendant was convicted of unlawfully possessing a revolver found during a police search. He claimed ignorance of the gun’s presence and no intent to use it.

The court ruled that under the Firearms and Ammunition Ordinance (Cap. 238), mere possession—regardless of intent—is a crime.

The defendant was sentenced to imprisonment, underscoring Hong Kong’s strict firearm laws.
